I suck at geometry. . .

My kid had one problem for homework. It was simply to draw a regular pentagon with side lengths of 5cm.

It took me forever to show him how to get all the angles to measure 108 degrees and at the same time get all the lines 5 cm. . .

/me sucks at drawing. . .even with a ruler and protractor

Its ok, I spent a ton of time on my calculus test trying to draw a 3d surface. It took me 1 minute to visualize in my head and 20 minutes to draw it properly.

I did it, showed him how - then he did it. One of his angles is 106 degrees, but the others are spot on. Good enough I said. . .

He can get exact if he decides to build bridges in a computer.

I've seen a video where an engineer drew a VERY VERY nice ARC, one stroke... and it looked like he had used an invisible protractor, I'm like WOW, this guy has probably done drafting for years on end_ I was impressed, I'm like this guy would make a visual artist anyday..

Yeah, I hated drawing 3D surfaces. I really, really can't draw and my curves always looked like crap.

Not sure why it would take so long. If you have an eraser it'll take approximately 2 mins.

What you could have done was calculate the radius of the circle that would circumscribe the pentagon. Draw the circle, and then with a compass or dividers mark off 5 cm chords along the circle. Bam, regular pentagon with 5 cm sides.

You should've just drawn a crappy 5 sided polygon and labeled each edge 5cm and marked that all the internal angles are equal (or 108 degrees). It's techincally correct, just not to scale.
