I successfully modified my XBox

If I had an extra xbox, I may mod it. But I dont, nor do I want to purchase one right now.

Why would you need an extra XBox?

I thought you couldn't go on Xbox Live with a modded xbox?

Modded XBox = Banned from XBox live. Yes there is a switch, but forget just once . . .

Yeah, but it's so hard to forget what with the bright blue LED glaring at you when the chip is on 😉

Edit: @ Kami - The switch allows you to disable the chip, using the normal xbox bios~

Only with a TSOP (no chip) mod, or any mod that can't be switched off with an external switch.

What about the games that have you automatically signed into xbox live, like PGR2? I'd definately forget to turn it off

If you get banned, there are ways to get back on

Ive gotten banned twice, and I still play xbox live with the same xbox

I wish my Xbox had been modded properly. The chip behaved weird to begin with, and I can't install EvoX using the (I think) standard method. (Extra DVD drive, insert game disc and Evox disc, etc.) Sigh... looks like I have to order another one, since the warantee on the first modchip expired. 🙁

It doesn't automatically sign you in - you have to choose a profile to sign into, unless there's an option for that.

Can't you boot up the XBOX and set it not to automatically sign you in? Or change it in the game's options?

That's the old old method, that's not a standard method I've ever seen. EvoX is just an unsigned application like any other XBox application - you'd just boot off the EvoX CD, FTP over to it and install EvoX (or just use Slayers or another auto-installer to format your drive and install EvoX on there) If you're decent with soldering, it's like $30 for a chip, $50 for non-soldered.

First, you can disable automatic Live sign-on in the MS dashboard. Second, the newer Xecuter BIOS' have a feature that prevents the Live Aware games from connecting to Live.

Yesterday I installed linux on my xbox using the mechinstaller method, no modchip. Now I can watch divx, dvd, and suf the net on my xbox 🙂

Does 4983 have it? I don't think I've ever seen it "attempt" to try to avoid doing it

Hrm, maybe my XBox isn't screwed then. So, theoretically, I should just be able to turn on the XBox with the modchip on, insert the EvoX disc and let it install?

Got a guide you can link to?

P.S. it's easy to avoid the XBox Live issue when you don't have an XBox Live account. 😛

Post some more details, you might be able to get some help here.
