I stole $20 last night

I was at a resturaunt paying for my dinner, and the total came to $22.50. I went up to the register to pay for it, but realised I only had a $20 dollar bill. So, I laid that down with my check, and paid with my card. When I was putting away my card, I ALSO put the $20 back into my pocket, absentmindly. So I signed the bill and wrote down the tip and as I was just about to leave, I saw $20 and a check, thinking it was mine I picked it up and left. When I got home, I looked at the bill and realised it wasn't mine, and the $20 in my pocket duplicated. Whoops. Someone must have laid it down and was waiting for their change. 😱

I did something similar to that years ago when I was young and dumb..at a dennys, these old people didnt feel like standing in line and waiting to pay for their meal like the rest of us, so they left the $$$ on the table. I took that $$ and paid for our meal, and left a generous tip.

in related news a irate customer punched out a cashier, and manager at a restaurant after accusing them of stealing his $20 bill.....an ATOT poster was reportedly spotted there minutes before

you are going back to return the $$$, right?

You do know that many restaurants make the server pay the bill for walk outs? If this rest. does that, then the server had to take $20.00 out of their pocket to make up for it. Andf considering they make about $2.00 an hour, that would really suck.

Thas wrong. I always leave money on the table and just leave - alot of restaurants do that since it's alot faster and easier.

Who do I return it to? I suppose the guy (or gal) either paid for their meal (like $13.xx) and was like "danm, that meal cost me 33 bucks", or the chashier (who was swamped with costumers) thought it was their mistake and he got the free meal, maybe even got change!

So, I dont know who the money belongs to. Either way, the resturaunt is about 100 miles away, I was comming home from my fishing trip.

It's just one of them things. Maybe I should give it to a bum so he can buy booze?
