The mapp gas is a hotter flame, but propane actually puts out more btus. As I said though, those will work in a pinch, just that those little tanks will take a bit longer to heat it up. When I use the cutting torch (propane/oxy), I'll heat the bolt itself up til it's cherry hot then give it a shot. If that doesn't work, I'll then let it cool off a bit and give it another shot. Waiting for it to cool a bit seems to be the key a lot of times, as the bolt cools as the heat transfers to whatever it's threaded into and it'll contract more, breaking it free.
Of course I use PB blaster too, I learned just to spray everything down I'm going to need to get at as soon as I get under the vehicle to take an initial look. I always leave it soak for a good 30 minutes minimum. I look at it more for preventing rusty bolts from snapping that will start to loosen and then snap when they get bound up.
Oh, and I'll anti-seize just about everything when putting stuff back together.
