If I'm feeling it with my shock rifle combos it's all over baby. 🙂

shock rifle > all

The shock rifle was the one thing I truly hated facing off against with the flakker. I could just chunkify about anyone with the flakker on a good day except someone with that damned shock cannon.

I believe I speak for us all when I say

Cry more no0b! 😛

😀

I may have to dig out the original UT discs tonight. Oh, and removing Assault from the later versions was the stupidest idea evAr.

Fixes a lot of issues on newer hardware/drivers.

Edit: UT Player since the demo back in Oct. of 99 😀

Interesting. I use the Direct3D renderer though because I have an ATI card and OpenGL isn't as good with ATI cards.

I'm also using the Direct3D8 renderer from that page, for the same reason (of ATI's OpenGL drivers being slow 😛).

Actually, since he only provided the D3D8 renderer for UT, and I still play Unreal a lot too, I had to rebuild the renderer for that game to use it...works great now that I got it running though. 🙂

One of the patches actually included a DirectX 9 renderer, but it doesn't work with my game.

reinstalled 2004 recently, pretty nice now that i can play it maxed settings uber smooth. plus there are so many maps/bonus packs now its crazy.

I was aware that there was a DX9 renderer for UT2004 in a previous official patch (that was later removed), but I'd never heard of such a thing for the original Unreal/UT. (Are we talking about different games? 😕 😛)

there was, but i think it was for testing or something, no improvement or probably degraded performance so it never became anything.

still, maxed out ut 2004 does look pretty nice for an old game.

I'm talking about UT2004. Sorry if there was any confusion.

God I loved the original UT. My favorite part was when you started loading the 8-Ball JUST at the right time to unload all 5 rockets into someone at once. Best kills ever.

Tragically, the game appears unable to run in Vista. I wasn't able to get it to even install.

I was just sitting here thinking about how much I want to play CS.

I never got into CS:S, and in fact I rarely play any video games these days (I have a PS3 that I've played maybe 20 times since christmas), outside of Madden with my roomates. But, for some reason I was just sitting here, doing some homework, thinking about how much I want to play som dust. Perhaps it was because playing Dust is infinitely more exciting than reading about IPCHAINS and configuring Linux based firewalls.

I'm able to run it just fine in Vista - but I also never "installed" it. For the past few years I've just been copying over my Unreal and UT folders whenever I reformat or reinstall Windows (mainly so I don't have to re-download or reinstall lots of custom mods/maps/etc.).

So if you still have a working install on another hard drive/OS, you could just try moving it or running it from there...
