Deadwood is stellar. If had been allowed to finish, it would have been the best HBO series for sure. I think I still prefer it to the others, but it has that "unfinished" feeling after the final season.

When the show "peaked" is very subjective, but 5 is mostly agreed upon as the weakest season. But, it's still better than most seasons of tv, and closer to the other seasons in quality than the last season of Sopranos was to the best seasons of that show.

I don't know--I think most tend to agree that season 2 is the weakest.

I still think I must have watched a different show. It wasn't all that good. Probably not even a top 10 show of mine.

Maybe I'll give it another shot in hopes that maybe I just missed "it".

Eh, I thought season 2 was pretty good. First half though is slow because it's just totally different characters so it's hard to get into.

I didn't mind season 2. I think it laid a lot of foundation the following seasons relied on. For one, it showed the source (the greek) of the "good dope" the big players relied on.

Deadwood is all about Swearengen. Get into Swearengen and you will see how awesome this show is. dude speaks in Iambic pentameter....which isn't that hard to write when every other word needs to be "wise and beautiful woman" or "beautiful being"

Give it a few episodes. I vaguely recall not being all that into the first one.

I think it ran for 3 seasons? Season 2 is the best, iirc.
