I originally watched the first two seasons(parts of them) when they were first on tv, I had forgotten everything except for some reason one of the guys who is murdered at the end of season 2. I went back because a guy at work started watching them and I had been meaning to watch it for awhile so I started. It is like I was watching it for the first time and it is so good. I have blazed through seasons 1 and 2 and will be starting 3 tonight, does it keep getting better or at least stay good?

3 = 4 > 1 > 5 > 2.

I like 5 more than most seem to--problem is that it was left unfinished to a degree, which is a shame, because the press story line is an important one and closer to the heart of the primary creator of the series.

season 2 isn't bad...but most fans tend to see at as generally "outside" of the series.

My order of preference is 1-3-2-4-5

I thought they ended it all pretty well. I won't specify why due to spoilers, but it was subtle and insightful. The characters were well scripted, and not caricatures. Almost all of them were likable in some fashion, and not one dimensional.

Tommy Carcetti. I still call him that on Game of Thrones, which confuses the hell out of my friend who read the GoT books but never watched The Wire.

I loved Bubbles, one of my favorite characters from any show ever. Hark & Carver were fucking comedy as partners. It was mostly serious & super depressing shit, but they added some hilarious comedic relief. The characters were all cast perfectly, even the few I didn't like, it was because you weren't suppose to like them. While I didn't love season 2, I didn't think it as bad at all.

Omar walking down the street whistling with a sawed off shottie while people ran the fuck away. Such an image.

And Bunk had some classic funny shit "hay Jimmy, you know what the plural for pussy is? pussi"

When the show "peaked" is very subjective, but 5 is mostly agreed upon as the weakest season. But, it's still better than most seasons of tv, and closer to the other seasons in quality than the last season of Sopranos was to the best seasons of that show.
