Thank you, thank you, thank you! I just got back from a camping trip in S.C. and I thought it was in my sleeping bag and when I tried to get it out to pay the rent this morning IT WAS GONE!

Here are the cliffs:

(1) OP & GF get stoned from weed, and go to WalMart at 2am for munchies
(2) OP's GF cashes welfare check and takes "forever" shopping for Doritos
(3) OP "finds" a phone on a shelf in walmart
(4) OP decides his stealing, stoner self is more trustworthy than WalMart employees and doesnt turn in the "lost" phone
(5) OP leaves walmart and goes outside, apparently for an hour
(6) Owner of Phone from #3 realizes its missing.. Calls the cops, who dust for prints and find the OP outside, stoned.
(7) OP Goes to jail.. GF realizes munchies > stoner theif BF and lets him rot for a week
(8) OP comes back to ATOT, bumps stolen Blu Ray thread a few times
(9) A week later, OP sobers up.. and posts on ATOT about how he was unfairly arrested for doing a good deed.
(10) ATOT picks apart OPs "story"
(11) ATOT reminds OP how he flaunted the fact he steals and is proud of it
(12) OP becomes butthurt, and reports everyone for being mean
(13) Mods enter thread and make fun of OP for being a stoner loser theif
(14) OP picks up ball and runs home crying.
(15) Hilarity ensues.

this reminds me of an experience i had a few weeks ago. i was sitting on the lower level of a high end shopping center in san francisco and all of the sudden an expensive watch in packaging dropped into the flower bed about 3 feet from me. apparently a thief had taken if from one of the kiosks and tossed it a few floors down to recover it later. i didnt touch it and about ten minutes later a security person came looking for it and found it

Stories don't match in any way except that they both are about cell phones. The OP didn't turn the one he found in to anyone, let alone the police...nor did he make any attempt to call the "last number dialed."

No.. that is in europe. AV is in the USA. Laws vary from state to state.. let alone another country

Also.. the laws in Atlanta, GA state "keeping lost items are a misdemeanor"

i see a lot of people giving him s*** for taking it out of the store, telling him to take it to customer service, etc. but last year i found a cell phone on the bus stop bench at my college, and rather than leaving it there and risk someone stealing it, i took it with the intention of calling up the most recent contact to say this person lost the phone. when class was over, that's exactly what i did (was guy's girlfriend), she thanked me, he picked phone up from me, also thanked me, and it was done. though i guess its a different situation since i knew the person was a fellow student (parking lot is students only, not public parking) and not some random person in my city
