IIRC, it was in relation to when he was running for president. When asked if he had ever used pot, he said yes, but he didn't inhale.

Yep. It was possibly the most stupid remark I've heard from any president or president wannabe......until "Mission Accomplished" came along. 😀

The American public doesn't see it that way. They don't see it as people learning from past mistakes or being young and stupid...they see it as "you were running for president since the day you were born."

They laughed b/c most people know that the whole thing about prohibition is a silly political game.
It's like masturbation--nobody wants to admit they do/did it, but most people do. And don't die from it, or turn into rapists.
Meanwhile, thousands die from alcohol and nicotine *abuse*, but that's ok b/c it's socially acceptable (and gives campaign/lobby money, pays taxes and advertising, and employees many voters).

Politics is a funny business.
IMHO almost all politicians are scumbags and hypocrites, so I think their personal life really shouldn't matter, as long as their public measures, bills, and actions are good.
I'd rather have a really competent, drunken adulterer at the helm than a draconian incompetent who has a flawless personal life.
