I smiled today because:

Weather was beautiful.

This evening, there was a HUGE thundercloud towering on the horizon. The whole top of the cloud kept getting lit up by lightning. Awesome display of lightning, and quite a few neat, chain reaction types of lightning.

Got a lot of work done in the apartment; bedroom is wired, all the double-offset walls are done, began closet walls, finally found tile I like (and purchased it) for the shower.

Stopped at a sort of fast food restaurant about 10 minutes before they closed - was really nice to the girl working, and made sure no parts of my order required them to make something fresh, because I know how much of a pain in the neck it is for someone to come in at the last minute and order something, resulting in needing to reclean an area, plus a lot of wasted food. The girl threw in all sorts of extras into my bag; I'm set for lunch tomorrow and Wed. 🙂

I noticed that one group of our goats were at the back of their pasture area; decided to take a video of them coming to see me. (They expected treats, and got treats.) I'll edit this post once the video uploads. 77?! minutes to go. (Flaky connection today for some reason.)

Just curious but you are originally from the UK right? If you don't mind my asking how long have you been in the U.S. and do you still have an English accent?

Daughter called me since she was staying at a friends house for a sleep over and she said the she and her friend had been mean to kids across the street since they called her names, feeling guilty, she asked me what to do about it....9 year olds...she called me, not her mother, after I told her to cut the crap of course, I smiled.

After dealing with a pita client for the last few years, I finally fired her. Wish I could have seen the look on her face when I denied her request for an appointment. Just a long silence and , "Uh ok." LOL. Still smiling.

Took the kids to the aquarium. Brainhulk Jr asks why there were so many fish. I told him that's how a school of fish swims. He replies, "then where's their teacher?" Lol

Ok, there seems to be quite a few negative threads out there so I'm going to be different and suggest a thread where you can all tell us about the last thing that made you smile and maybe make others smile too.
It's not all bad and life is absolutely too short. Go out, play in the sunshine, feed some ducks, smell the flowers and so on. Then, tell us about what made you smile.
I smiled today because...
...I just got away with murdering the OP.

I think this is going to become a negative thread too. 🙁

I'll be on night shifts for a while with lots of time off in between. That means I get to sleep in for almost a month straight. That's something to smile about, I hate getting up early. 😛

I smiled because when I woke up and walked to my kitchen, I was able to make myself some coffee. This meant several good things occurred early in my day.

I was able to Walk without using a cane today,
my electric and water are still on,
I still am able to pay my bills to stay in my home,
I still had coffee in the house; and some milk to make my coffee the way I like it. 🙂

Yup moved from JHB 6 months ago...I havent gotten around to updating my location here yet, but the important thing (setting up my new signature with the new PC config I built here) is done 🙂

Took me a long time to work up to the point where I decided to do that, but BOY did it feel good when I did! Firing terrible customers is one of the biggest things I miss about doing contract IT work; in corporate jobs, you're basically stuck with what you get, so that's definitely a perk for working for yourself. There are some real nutjobs out there who are absolutely not worth the money, and the sad thing is they usually pay awesome because they know they're horrible to deal with. Hitting the point where I didn't have to rely on getting paid from difficult clients & could drop them at my discretion was such a big milestone

I woke up this morning... Stage IV cancer has a way of giving you a new perspective.

I get laughs out of Postal 2.

There's one territorial chick in the mall. If she sees you in "her" room she yells at you and either attacks or runs off to find a nearby cop. This time, she ran off and I followed. She tells the cop "Some weirdo is whacking people in there." The cop replies, "I'm on it" and runs back to that room with her. However, once they reach the room, her territorial behavior kicks in and she attacks the cop that accompanied her. Whacked his head off with a shovel. 😀 Nice "thank you" there.

Thanks guys. When the day gets rough this kind of thread makes you feel a lot better.

Pizza, those goats are cute, and LOUD. I have to go the country fair next week and I'll be living that noise 14 hours a day.

I smiled today, not only because I am alive;
But because when I put gas in my vehicle the price had dropped another 5 cents per gallon from yesterday.

🙂

They're only loud when I show up - because they know it's probably time to get grain. Otherwise, if I hear a goat, there's usually something wrong. Note how quiet they were until the heard queen noticed me.

I had a pretty demanding day and my wife made me laugh with something that totally went over my head.

During a phone conversation on my way home:

RossMAN: blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda traffic is heavy
Wife: Careful lifting that traffic.
RossMAN: Huh?
Wife: Heavy traffic (pause)
RossMAN: Derp, I got it.

Staying out of P&N makes me smile. 😉

Yeah, my wife does similar things to me now and then.

Ya gotta love it 🙂
