I shot the neighborhood K9 this morning... Cautionary PIC inside.

Just out of curiosity here, if this was your farm and coyotes were eating your livestock....your income to put food on your family's table....you would simply allow it to happen and explain to your family that there will be no food because a pest animal is following his natural instincts and you don't want to interrupt him?

I have a lonely tree in my yard...care to hug it?

Yeah but this isn't the case. Dude looked out his trailer house window, seen a coyote, and told his woman to fetch his gun. He fired a shot that killed the coyote off his back doorstep for kicks. Guy doesn't farm and claims he was doing it for his neighbors.🙄

And? I wouldn't care if he buttfucked the corpse and posted here to brag about it, he's doing all of us a favor by killing pests.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that the OP loves nascar just as much as he loves hunting critters. OP will deny it cause I'm calling him out on it but I know it without a doubt. I know his type all too well. Grew up in Texas all my life.

Then there's always the possibility of mistaking someone's dog for the coyote. I'm not saying that coyotes aren't distinctive looking, they are, but at 80 yard (240 ft) and with the animal moving I'm sure it's possible to mistake for some of the more wolf like looking breeds of dog.

I always think it's sad to see any beautiful animal shot. I'm not going to weigh in on this thread any more than this, that's just the way I feel.

I understand the killing them to protect your livestock which for ranchers that's your livelihood. You kill a deer to have deer jerky all winter I understand that too. Guy killing shit to get his rocks off just rubs me the wrong way. Says alot about what kind of person they are imo.

Who cares if he likes nascar? Are you calling him white trash, racist?

Agreed. Although I would hope ranchers would use non-lethal methods first, I understand that's not always possible.

I watched a fascinating program on dogs and man the other day. The short answer is no, you will probably fail with a randomly selected wild dog pup.
The interesting thing is, pick a friendly one, and do that with successive litters and you end up with a domesticated 'dog' in just a few generations.
The Russians did this huge study using silver foxes, and the foxes even changed colors as they became more tame.

I heard about that and thought it was so interesting until I saw some pretty tame wild foxes in "Grizzly Man" and called "shens" on the whole Russian experiment.

I would be more impressed if he made the kill with his bare hands. Shooting a animal from 50+ yards away is so pussy. The coyote didn't get any advantage like that.

Too fucken bad develop a brain and design a weapon to kill humans Mr Coyote, until such time you're prey.

*with proper wildlife management/regulations by our biologists who are experts in preservation.

I have wondered if it's possible to raise one from a puppy as a pet. They do seem to be somewhat intelligent. I've known you can get wolf mixes.

Not sure about coyotes, but for wolves according to some science show about dogs I watched a while back it is not. They showed an experiment where the researcher attempted to do just that, and the wolf became unmanageable after some period of time.

Looks like all the ATOT rednecks are out in full force. We are on top of the food chain. We have millions of animals bred and slaughtered on a daily basis for our consumption. There is just no reason to hunt wildlife unless you have some psychotic need to kill something.

Another fail. Overpopulation is one reason which can wipe out species. Letting animals live natural and free like mother nature intended right before kill is another instead of horrid torturous conditions in commercial ranching. Protecting your assets is another. And finally if you eat it it's all natural not injected with garbage and infested with feces or high bacteria count.

yea i've seen such shows, it doesn't work because they develop really bad behavior, unlike a dog they will not really accept your authority...even wolf hybrids can do this. having an animal that growls and might attack u is just uncool. plus they are smarter, so u would constantly be wondering if the thing is thinking if it can take you. they are only dog like as a puppy, and then you have to take em out back and shoot them😛

Meh.

I would have called the authorities, tranquilized it, and had it relocated to appropriate grounds.

And then the authorities would have laughed at you and told you they'd be out right away. Lol.

I shot a red fox during deer season this year. Foxes are normally very beautiful this time of year but this one had Mange Mites so bad it tail, hind legs, and most of it's lower body had no hair. It had chewed over half of it's own hair off. That fox being shot was way better in the long run compared to freezing to death once winter really hit.

wow there are a lot of stupid people in this thread throwing out lots of assumptions. leave the city once or twice in your life, it's a real eye opener.

LOL. Relocate. A coyote. Awesome.

That's almost as good as section 8 housing.

also, this.
