I seriously hate people. My wife's car got keyed

So last night my wife's car got keyed. The the worst part is, it happened in the parking lot of a Relay for Life cancer fundraiser. My wife is a high school English teacher and the freshman adviser at her school. She and her freshman organized a team to participate in the relay for life. She's spent over a month and half getting this organized, working her ass off to do something for cancer (her Dad died of cancer a few years back, and her mom is a survivor).

So while she there some punk apparently decides it's a good time to key a car, and gets hers. I imagine they keyed more than her car in the parking lot, but I don't know for sure. Getting a car keyed alone pisses me off, but the fact that some piece of shit scumbag would come into the parking lot of an event for raising money for cancer and does it has me incensed . :| :| :| There was no way they didn't know what was going on there either, there were signs everywhere. I just can't believe some lowlife would do something like that.

They got it good too, all the way down the front passenger door, rear passenger door and the rear fender (2007 Mazda3). The car is dark blue, so it sticks out like a sore thumb. Most the scratch is right down to the metal, so no buffing it out.

Anyway, just wanted to rant.
 
Who knows, I seriously doubt it was any of her students. All of her students were there by choice, and love her. The event wasn't at her school, so it could have been a student at the school it was at. The parking lot was super packed, so it was most likely just some punks walking through keying various cars.

No, the car was parked fine. I actually drove it there and parked it. She drove my car to the event hours before I got there because mine is bigger and she needed the room to bring things. I was way out in the lot, which is where scumbags like to do their scumbag things. There were plenty of other cars around too. I didn't notice until I got the car home, so I didn't have a chance to see if any other cars got it.

Vincent: Tell me about it. I had it in storage for three years, it was out for five days and some dickless piece of shit fucked with it.
Lance: They should be fucking killed. No trial, no jury, straight to execution.
Vincent: Boy, I wish I could've caught him doing it. I'd have given anything to catch that asshole doing it. It'd been worth him doing it just so I could've caught him doing it.

Vincent: What's more chickenshit than fucking with a man's automobile? I mean, don't fuck with another man's vehicle.
Lance: You don't do it.
Vincent: It's just against the rules.

I'm also a Mazda owner. 2004 6i hatchback. My first new car bought new and paid for 1 year later.
Someone bumped a shopping cart against my car and now there are very visable scratches on the left rear door!


If it's as bad as you say, file an insurance claim. Hopefully your deductible is only $500. That would be worth it to me.

I actually quoted that Vincent line to my wife when we were driving to dinner earlier.

This is actually the second random keying we've had. The other was a year and half ago when we were living in California. I had just gotten my car and it was all waxed and looking nice. I parked it in the parking lot of the BART train station and went to work, and when I got back it was keyed. Another incident of random punks, both happened at the very back of the lot. But the only reason I parked in the back then and this time was necessity, the lots were just full both times.

Our deductible is actually only $250. After the other car got keyed I got a lower comp deductible just because of situations like this. Glad I did.
 
I hate it when senseless vandalism happens as my car has been a victim of it too.

There's not really anything you can do about it except keep your head up and know you are better then that. Then relish in the fact that someone who keys cars for fun probably has much bigger problems.

Vandals got my Civic the first day I bought it. People are jealous asses sometimes. Can't let it get you too down though...
 
could be that she pissed someone off while parking? stealing a space? almost causing an accident with stupidity?

and comprehensive shoould take take of the repairs. it wont raise your insurance
 
I will say most of the pranks and damage to people's stuff I have witnessed took place at fundraisers and things where people were getting together to help a cause.

I don't get it.

At our yearly meeting we had everyone meet at the main office I work, sure enough that day out of 4 years prior was the day someone dinged my door.

Most of the time the damage is caused by people oblivious or simply not caring. Much like I avoid WalMarts as it seems half the people getting out of their beaters throw open their door full force without regard for what's next to them. There was one time when a lady was trying to load her car from the side that was totally too close to the other car. She kept knocking her door into their car hard enough to chirp the alarm. I walked over and told her if she thought loading on the other side of her car WHERE NO ONE WAS PARKED as she was damaging the other guys car. She said in a drawl 'Well he aught not to have parked der den'.

When she left there were scratches all on his car. I left a note with her tag number and told him I have a picture on my cellphone if he wanted it sent. I never heard back from the guy.

While they can't raise your rates if you were not at fault for the damage, they can elect not to renew your policy.

This happens quite a few times people have posted after making a substantial claim where they had been paying for years/decades without one.

My family was with State Farm for 20+ years for auto/home/business...we had one claim ~$10k and they would not renew my policy and wanted me to sign an affidavit I would have no access to any State Farm covered vehicles. I was only 17 or 18 at the time so I don't know all the details other than my dad was ballistic on his agent that he knew personally. The agent said it was a corporate deal. My dad transferred all the policies to another insurer who had no problem covering me. Although by that time I was moving out for college anyway.

they know how much you like the car based on it's prestine appreaance. so they damage it knowing they'll get under your skin for months to come
 
0roo0roo and Zee, like I said above, I drove the car to the event, and no it wasn't parked in two spaces, no one got pissed off. When I got there everyone was pretty much already in the event, so I parked at the ass end of the lot in the only spot I could find.

I'm curious if anyone else got it too. It's not like she drives some exotic car either, just a Mazda3, and it was in need of a bath so it wasn't all nice and shiny looking. It is that nice bright blue color, so it stands out.

Exactly.
He's got a shitty life or serious mental issues.
The only way he can ignore his life is to ruin someone elses. And since he keys cars he's got no balls.
A real man will at least have the decency to start a bar fight or something similar.
