I seem to have stumbled across a little money...

I've posted a couple times now about my new system I'm looking to get in either late june or early july

I had previously been thinking a 3000+ with a k8v...

If I happen to have a couple hundred more than I thought I would....what's best? a 3500+ 939?

Peace

Personally I don't think it's worth it to go for socket 939 just yet. The processors are pricey and the performance gain isn't significant. I'd use the extra money to get one of the new killer video cards. ATI X800XT PE or nvidia 6800 (not sure of extension).

Well, I already had an x800 pro planned for it....are the XT's worth the extra $100?

Also... I dont beleive I'll have enough left over to get an fx-53.....but how do they stack up against the p4 extremes?

they kick the P4EE's arse in most everything aside from things that are heavily optimized for P4 instructions, such a divx. but if you got a FX53 and raised the multiplier and got an extra 200mhz,it would flat out beat everything, hands down.

P4 has some new processors out on the market, but i don't think they have any real performance gains to speak of,yet.

either way, check it out for youself here to compare the values, the 3800+ is basically a FX-53 minus half its cache, a locked multiplier, and $100 less.
