Volunteer Services over at the Toronto Olympic Bid commitee sent me an e-mail not too long ago. Apparently CNN.COM is hosting an online poll with the following question: "Which city do you think will win the bid for the 2008 Olympic Games?"

Well not that I care who the probable victor is, I just want to mobilize the AnandTech machine to vote for my city, Toronto. 🙂 Come on guys, where else can you watch the Games live and at a decent hour of the day? And hey, if we win, you're all invited to stay at my place in the city and take part in the Olympic craziness as it happens! 😉

GO TORONTO! 🙂

Vote now: http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2001/olympicbid/

Yeah, but we've pulled out from behind before in a TIME.com poll they did a month or so ago. Someone at to-2008.com saw the poll and e-mailed the volunteer staff (myself included) and the vote shifted HUGELY.

China jails activist over Olympic appeal
"A Chinese court has sentenced a democracy activist to two years "re-education through labor" after she organized a petition to the International Olympic Committee. Shan Chengfeng, 28, was sentenced for an open letter dated December 31 calling on the IOC to pressure Beijing on its human rights record by demanding the release of all Chinese political prisoners."

😕 :disgust:

C'mon Toronto! Hey...it's only 4-5 hours away from my hometown...although in 7 years I'll be out of College and living somewhere else most likely...either way, it's a fsckload better than Beijing!

<< Doh, Beijing is currently wiping the floor :\

TORONTO!!!

man! it's like they have a lot of ppl there or something!

Can someone say corrupt officals if Beijing gets it. They have no human rights, no respect. They arrest forign people and hold them against even chinese law. I would be affraid of going there to see the Olympics.

Besides the Olympics should be held in Greece forever.
