I see ST:Enterprise is about to upset Star Trek's own timeline

Seems the crew is going to find Romulans with a cloaking device.

The original timeline was that they (Romulans) were encountered 100 years before Kirk and the war that followed was fought to a standstill. The Neutral Zone was agreed upon using sub-space radio only with no ship to ship visual to actually see the enemy. They had no idea what Romulans looked like. The Cloaking device was never seen before. It debuted in Balance of Terror along with the physical appearance of Romulans.

This is not the first time the original timeline was monkeyed with.

Here's probably how the writer's meeting went:

Joe: "Tom, You know this will upset the Star Trek timeline"
Tom: "You know what? I doesn't matter - the only ones who will notice are freak, loser Trekkies anyway"

🙂

No, it probably went like this:

Joe: "Tom, You know this will upset the Star Trek timeline"

Tom: ???

Joe: "Tom?"

Tom: "huh? Pass me a beer. We're done here, right?"

LOL!

I seem to recall that they decided with this show to only stay consistent with the NG series of ST. Classic is apparently all "wrong". See: klingon makeup.

I know. I know. I am just nit picking. I am just a closet trekkie. The original series rules. And that Klingon make up stuff bothered me since ST: The Motion Picture.

And don't expect it to be the last. This is what happens when you decide to do a prequel to an ever-evolving series, sign a seven year network contract, then discover how limiting a prequel can be because of already established plot lines and characters. As a writer you realize how difficult it is to continue creating interesting and engaging material that will entertain a progressive audience within such strict limitations. Before you know it pre-established story structure is being revised to fit the needs of the new material.

I'm just waiting for the episode where Capt. Archer and crew encounter the Borg -- despite what this will mean for TNG's "First Contact."

They were fscking around with it the last episode too. I believe the name was carbon creek (though I enjoyed that scene of Jolene Blalock changing behind the white sheet). 😀😀😀

I believe at the end T'Pol more or less admitted that was a joke didn't she?
I wasn't really paying all that much attention.

I saw the ads for that episode. When did they decide that vulcans should all be "gifted" kids?

I didn't watch the whole thig. I sorta lost interest and changed the channel half way through.

Actually, it's quite plausible that the Romulans true identity will somehow be discovered by the crew, reported back to Starfleet, then forced into a cover-up by the Vulcans. It's already been shown how the admirals at Starfleet command during this time are just as incompetent and corrupted as they were in TNG, so no big surprises here.
