I just wait for movies to come out on DVD. I refuse to spend $50 for 2 people to watch a movie in a nasty, smelly theater with overpirced drinks and snacks. Beyond that, I really like to be able to pause the movie if I have to take a leak.

What about you?

I stopped going to movies once I built my theater room. Now I've better than theater experience in the comfort of my basement.

you cannot forget having to deal with teeny boppers just learning to date....it can be very entertaining though

I once had a 13 yr old couple in front of me(they were with friends) and he kept getting shot down,,,
Male: Want some of my candy
Female: no
Male: do you like the movie
Female: its okay
Male: are you having fun
Female: i guess

not to mention the awkward glances at eachother and the constant figiting......man it was halarious, i watched them instead of the movie...

Better screen than I have. Better sound than I have. Women don't appreciate being taken straight to your house after dinner. Therefore I still go.

Home Theater is the only way to go. There was an article a few days ago about the movie companies releases movies on DVD and at the theater simultaneously. Would be cool to see that happen.

No, it would not. The industry would be shooting itself in the foot big time.

Home theater has gotten a LOT better than it used to be, but the movie-theater experience is still a lot more immersive, and free from the distractions of home. At home I find myself watching movies while working on my laptop, etc., and while it's my own fault, it really detracts from the experience.

i never, ever goto full priced theatres anymore. $12 a ticket is robbery.

i goto the cheap theatre...$3.50 for a movie is worth it.

Around here its $8-10 per ticket depending on the theatre.

You are grossly overpaying ($50) wherever you may be...

Ain't been in years, feet stick to floor, person behind or in front wiggling, kicking, squirming, talking. 20 to 30 minutes of commercials. I can wait until it comes out on DVD or makes it to HD Cable. 55" HD with Dolby 5.1, beverage of choice, and not way over priced, clean bathroom within a few steps.

I go to two movies/year now. I was doing 3/year before skoorbaby came, but now they cost about $50 ($20 for babysitter) instead of the previously still-high $30.

Most movies just are not that good, and they come out on DVD so quickly anyway that I can wait a few more months and pay $5 instead of $30 later on. I went to Hitch (just so we could get away) and I'll see star wars III and I see nothing else on the horizon this year I can not wait to see.

Some people just DL them well before they hit DVD anyway, but not me because that's naughty.
