That's just pathetic....an Acura badged Civic.

Just like an Acura-badged Integra? 😉

At least the Integra had better engines and from what I know, just used the Civic's underpinnings. There's a market for the TSX (fills the sporty sedan void) but an obvious clone of Honda's economy car? Seriously, what the hell is the point? Acura is supposed to be upscale.

The Integra/RSX is nothing but a common Honda in Acura clothing (not even so much as new sheet metal!), and the motors were better than a Civic's? How so? The GSR was more common (we'll leave the Type R out of this 😉), but even the Civic had an Si motor that rivaled any Integra offering. I'm just pointing out this isn't the first time Honda has filled out their product lineup with badge engineering.

The B18 in the GSR was better than any Civic motor.

I've never seen an Integra that looked the same as a Civic. What sheet metal are you talking about?

some chinese dude told me they do it coz they got nicer models and cheaper.
they would drive up one weekend(from san francisco) and go drive one back from canada.

ahhhh... found this in the canadian website
1.7 EL

wtf is it doing in NY w/NY plates?

You can register a Canadian car in most US states.

what's the benefit of doing that?
other than getting cars that we don't get in the US and for those who move?

I didn't know the US didn't have the EL.

It's a "luxury" Civic with an SI engine.

It has the same 1.7L engine as the USDM Civic EX.

As far as I recall the latest SI here has the K24 engine (like the RSX, 7th Gen i4 Accord)

You have to also consider that Canada never got a civic with the US Civic EX's engine in it, only the EL did. Until recently, all of their civics were the 115hp variety, leaving the bigger engine for the EL. The 130hp HP engine was just introduced to their civic lineup this year, as the Civic SI model (what we'd call a Civic EX Coupe here in the US). Our Civic Si is the Civic SiR in Canada.

I think we also have different SIs. That was the case for the previous Civics, we also have the SiR which is a different engine than the SI.

No, you have no idea what you're talking about.

US Civic EX Coupe = Civic Si in Canada

US Civic Si = Civic SiR in Canada

KEV1N was thinking he meant the US Si, not the Canadian Civic.
