I bought the tickets to the show with my mom's fiance about three months ago. My mom has always loved Springsteen and has never seen him live, so we arranged for the two of them to come up to Montreal this weekend to visit. He told my mom that we were going to see some dinosaur exhibit and, so, all weekend she was talking about how excited she was.

Anyway, we walk to the Bell Centre. I think she's a little suspicious because there are huge lines. I hand her the ticket and she stares at it for a second. She needs reading glasses so it took her a few moments to see what it said, but then her eyes lit up, she smiled and started jumping up and down while screaming and hugging us. I love her and being able to surprise her like that was better than seeing the concert itself.

That said, the show was top-notch. Springsteen is an amazing musician and put on the best show I've ever seen. I'd highly recommend catching him on this current tour.

Cliffs:
Surprised my mom with Springsteen tickets.
I love her.
Show was incredible.

I agree. Springsteen is one of the best live bands to experience. I saw him in The Rising tour in North Carolina, and he was absolutely amazing. Too bad he didn't play Thunder Road, my favorite song of his. :(

I know! I was hoping he'd play it too, but the set in Montreal was pretty damn good. I really almost every song he played, though I'll admit I didn't know the words to a few of the newer ones. American Land was also great.

That is genuinely heartwarming how you surprised her, and brought a smile to my face :)

I think I will listen to The Boss right now.

The Boss is up there with Neil Young and Ryan Adams when it comes to giving you your money's worth in a show.

He does give you your money's worth. At least when I saw him, he put on a long ass show. I have to say it was the most boring concert I've ever been to though, and this was during his heyday back in the 80s when he was touring Born in the USA. I like Springsteen but just not that much I guess.

Sacrilege!

Just kidding, to each their own. Too bad you didn't enjoy the show.

I think that sitting through a boring concert has to be its own special circle of hell. I could never imagine how people sit / stand through a rap concert - it all sounds like a big, noisy headache.
