I saw some in-game 2142 ads today.

Uhhh... that's in-game propoganda befitting the theme of the game. At worst it's EA trying to sell you a game you already own 🙂 Unless of course that's the demo...

They should start by lowering the price because of lack of content
Then they should lower the price even more because of in game ads

You're kidding me.. another booster pack for the game? That's pretty hot, EA is making a KILLLINNG. I wish I were them. =[

I dont mind those kind of ad's. Westwood already did this in red alert 2. There were billboards with the emperor battle for dune logo on them. Also others with the westwood logo, i thought it was neat.

Thats not bad because its an army ad, it fits into the game. Once they start getting Coca-Cola and Chevy truck ads....

I know I saw lots of Ads for Axe in Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.

EDIT: I notice EA isgetting lazy. They can aquire any licence they want, and almost always do, but the games lack content. BF2 was fun, but had nothing to it, especially in Single Player mode (if you can call it that). BF1942 was the same way. The Lord of the Rings games were hack and slash and nothing else. And dont get me started on sports games.

I'm guessing those are just the locations of the up coming ads. I don't care about ads in game thats fine. The fact they think they need to put spyware on peoples systems to figure out what young males are interested in is a little stupid though....

The first ads to run are Intel Core 2 starting at the top of November. I guess in 2142 a Core 2 will be an antique that's very desirable in military complexes and power plants. 😛

BTW, blocking 72.3.184.144-72.3.184.159,72.32.5.0-72.32.5.15 (IGA's servers) stops the intrusion. If you want the ads but don't want IGA collecting your viewer impression you can probably just block outbound traffic only.

It makes me wonder if it would be such a big deal to people if EA didn't perform customized advertising, rather just tossed dynamic but identical ads to everybody. It's not like they aren't working with a very well defined market, 16-35 year old males that play lots of video games. Gee, hmm... what to market?
