I saw Rent Broadway...

I guess I saw it too late..

When it first came out in 96's, it was considered controversial as it dealt with AIDS, Homosexuality, etc in a very MTV-esque gritty urban setting.

I guess I would've like it much more if I did see it during 1996, not 2006- a different era we live in. All the 'appealing issues that made Rent popular & controversial are now just tired and boring.

At least I loved the kickass live band and amazing live singing. The plot is boring.

I liked it, great music...although I did see it years ago. Watched the movie the other day, not half bad either.

Like the OP said, I think I may have liked it better if I saw it when it was first out on Broadway.
