I saw "Glory" last night. Anyone else seen this flick?

OMG, I thought that was one of Brodericks best roles. He played a GREAT part.

And GOOD FLICK!!!

NFS4, I don't think we are ever gonna agree on anything.

God i hated his stilted intonation and his totally inconsistent accent.

You have a young man with practically no battlefield experience leading his "rusty" troops into battle. Do you expect him to speak like Jack Nicolson from A Few Good Men?

no, i felt the guy (can't remember his name now) that played the Major was far better suited for the role. he was also young, mb a bit more brash than broderick, but at least somewhat natural.

and i disagree, just because someone is green and new to a situation, doesn't mean that he will act like he's acting all the time.

NFS4 is right. It was an attempt to make his character as close to reality as possible based on the letters he had written home, and the diaries of those with whom he served. Whether or not that attempt succeeded is subject to debate, but one must consider that fact when judging his performance.

You mean Cary Elwes? I think that Broderick was cast in the role for a reason. If the commander was SUPPOSED to be brash, they would have cast someone like that.

ya. but broderick is the SAME in all of his other films. i still saw inspector gadget or ferris bueller when i watched glory.

face it, he is forever ferris bueller, fair or unfair, he fit that part too well. it happens to lots of actors.

You just don't give the man enough credit.

It's about as stupid (no offense) to still label Ron Howard as Opie.

nfs4

no, it's because he doesn't make the effort to change some crucial aspects. comon compare him to the great actors, he doesn't have range, he always has the same basic accent, intonation, speaking mannerisms etc.

and btw, ron howard will always be richie cunningham, not opie

It was a very powerful movie. Morgan freeman and denzel washington were great supporting cast. Esp the scene where he is being whipped, damn that was like moving.

I guess you've never seen Matthew Broderick in the critically acclaimed play The Producers.

He is a great actor who doesn't get enough credit. So what about his voice. Is that all you can critique him on? If that's all, you had better delve deeper.

NFS4

all?? how can you just simply dismiss voice?

voices have made and broken a lot better actors than matthew broderick.

and no, i have not seen the producers. is it on broadway? is it a movie? if it is a movie, on ur recommendation, i'll make a point to get a hold of a copy and watch it.

I have no problems with his voice, you seem to though.

The Producers is a famous broadway show of recent years. He and Nathan Lane star (I seriously can't believe you haven't heard of it).

Gosh! You mean you hadn't seen the movie before last night? I'm surprised. Uhmmmm . . . well I have seen it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. . . .

Hehehe! I never really took my time to observe things in details. All I know is, the movie was interesting enough to me from a historical point of view. I luv history! 😀
