I usually agree with you except I saw an amusing one about a year ago... something along the lines of "If you use the lord's name in vein in traffic, he will only make it worse.."

No, no. They didn't make the quotes in third person, they made them first-person narrative, literally putting words in God's mouth.

The original quote was "Stop using my name in vain during rush hour, or I'll make it longer." - God

They were all ridiculously stupid.
