What bothers me is how Asian restaurants don't serve white people spicy food when they ask for it. I (white) ask for spicy and what I get is not spicy. My girlfriend (asian) orders medium or mild and gets something way hotter than I get. Its not fair. This happens at nearly every Asian restaurant we go to. Its annoying.
Hmm, never had that problem. Which is strange since you're in Texas and people there tend to handle spicy food much better than Minnesotans.
One time made the mistake of asking for something spicy (anticipating them to dumb it down for the midwestern white guy) and it was way too much. It was a fish soup and instead of being brownish orange it was bright red, and instead of fish, vegetables, and peppers, it was 90% red hot peppers and a few other things thrown in. That was intense.
