i robot good?

I am surprised at how many people are saying it's decent.
I thought it looked lame too.. I might just have to see it.

i dont know, i havent seen the movie nor do i plan to, but i think the movie is killing asimov's visions

If your gonna bitch about how it mutilated Asimovs story.. it didnt.

Its only INSPIRED by it, as it clearly states. Ive read the book, and seen the movie. Frankly the book would have been too serious to be a movie. This adds some comedy, and more interesting action.

I enjoyed it, though the book would be better for philosophical debates..

when i spend money on a movie i usually allow myself to be easily entertained, so next time I go movie hopping i'll probably watch it

i repeat from an earlier thread, the movie had a crapload of unnecessary advertising and a stupid plot that was based on the idea that random pieces of code just appear in computer programs and will eventually create consciousness and a robot with a soul. basically ridiculous nonsense that i can't believe people buy into. buuuuut it was pretty entertaining on special effects alone, if thats your thing.

Held my attention from start to finsish. I really liked this movie. Thought it was worth every penny.

Agreed.

Good acting, good storyline, it was a very enjoyable movie.

I'll buy this one on DVD when it comes out.

I think, if you pay attention carefully, it is not saying that code magically evolves, just that extremely complicated code brings about uninteded consequences and that code once is passes a certein complexity, is equivelent to intelligence, so long as it has a that certain randomness to it.

It's good as a summer movie if you haven't read the Asimov stories or are able to ignore them. Will Smith acts like Will Smith and there's a lot of robot fighting...but if you try to compare it to the original stories, you're going to get really angry at everything that's wrong or that would never happen (like the entire movie).

Also, you see Will Smith's ass., whichever way that factors for you.
