ENDING people it says ENDING. That pretty much means this thread is gonna be sprinkled with spoilers.

So shut the fck up.

People are upset about the topic summary part.

oh.

my bad.

Continue ranting.

The movie is good. I've never read the book and don't plan on it. Maybe you should stop telling people that the movie is crap and let them make up their own minds about it. You know how easily persuaded people here are. :p

Sorry about the thread summary, didn't think about it because I was drunksxors...

But the exact part I don't understand is what is Sonny's role at the Very end when he is standing on the hill and all the robots see him and sort of have a mutal understanding together??? Is it meant to be ambigous, or did someone else see something I didn't.

Also when Will smith asked SONNY if it was Sonnyon top of the hill, and Sonny NO, it was him (will smith). Well turns out it was Sonny....

The dream said the person on top will set them free. But they are in 'prision' because the humans want them there. They will now revolt?

IS SONNY GOOD OR BAD??? (even if he is now 'human')

"Spoilers" should not be in the thread topic area! :|

SERIOUSLY! WTF?! I was going to watch this when it came out on dvd too....

Don't bother, read the book.

I don't think that the movie is supposed to be based off of the book. They just took some ideas and such, and created a whole new story.

The script was originally named Hardwired (IIRC), but there were legal issues with it. So they stole a great name of a great book and desecrated a classic. Typical Hollywood rape of American childhood stories.

How about you choke on a dick? The movie was the rape and torture of a Science Fiction classic.

Next thing you know they'll make Shakespeare characters into gangstas.

Everything in the movie was bad, read the book.

Didn't they do something like that with Hamlet? Urbanized it. Horrible IIRC.

I thought it was Romeo and Juliet, but yeah. And someone had the bright idea of modernizing Othello too.

I watched I, Robot last night.

The movie wasn't too bad, except for the blatant product placement. That lowered the movie to a 5/10 to me.

The ending is easy to explain. They want to leave an opening for another movie.

The closing credits said (I believe) "Suggested By" Isaac Asimov.

:( horrible thread,

but i think that sonny was going to replace their former AI leader and probably help lead them into an artificial emotion evolution (wasnt he one of the prototypes that had emotions and dreams?) i do tend to think that the other robots were probably more like 'wtf, our leader is destroyed, and we aren't angry anymore, but we are no longer controlled through a central source, so now what?'. and sonny is like 'y0y0 the new way follow me'

Read Maddox's take on this movie... kinda funny, actually.

I refuse to see the movie simply because I am such an ardent scifi reader and I, Robot was one of my first scifi books. If it was Hardwired or whatever I might have gone to see it but...

heh, although the movie was fun - I saw no resemblance whatsoever to the book.

The ending?
Maybe something along the lines of the actual book - where the robot does indeed lead the other robots forming their own cult.
