Walking around in my socks and stubbed my toe and it ripped my toenail off. It hurt even more when I took my sock off and my toenail was in the sock and it started bleeding like crazy.

From now on I wear shoes.

i slammed my finger in a car door years ago...the nail didnt come off, but looked nasty. i was packing for a trip 2 weeks afterwards and it caught a coathange somehow and ripped out

jesus, that was not cool. the nail grew back just a little odd and still had a slight ridge going up it. this was maybe 8 or 9 years ago when it happened.

The ENTIRE nail came off, or just a piece? Keep it clean, and soak it in Epsom Salt twice daily, or THIS can happen (if it's a partial). I know this because it happened to me, it was literally the worst pain I've ever had. My foot smelled like rotting dog food.

I had to soak my foot and change my socks a few times a day. I needed surgery to correct it. You don't want to mess with this. :p

I had an ingrown nail also. It was kinda cool when I had the surgery done. They clipped the nail down the side that was grown in all the way back to the toe, then took some pliers and yanked on it until it came out. They had to pull pretty damn hard to get it loose. Then they carterized the toe so that the nail wouldn't grow on that side anymore. It looks completely normal now though.
