I refuse to learn and keep repeating the same mistakes..bought another money pit

Found another money pit, also known as a boat, and couldn't resist the darned thing. Can't resist a bargain, much to my wife's chagrin, and this was priced too good to pass up. Brought it home on Thursday, had it on the lake Friday.

It's a 1990 Quantum 16' dual console bass boat with a 50 hp Force outboard. (Built by Bayliner.) It's in great shape; floors are solid, transom is rock solid, electronics (gauges, lights, Alpine AM/FM/Cd player, Hummingbird fish finder) all work, interior is almost completely intact (some seam separation on two of the seats, but wife says she'll be able to repair them easily--but no tears or worn spots in the carpet, thankfully), and gelcoat and paint is great. Motor starts up almost instantly and runs strong.

Admittedly, it's not perfect but its imperfections are all cosmetic.....need some new 13" aluminum wheels to replace the rusted things on the trailer (thank goodness for Pull-a-Part----they charge $14/wheel for aluminum mags and Ford wheels fit the trailer, so some old Escort mags should do the trick), the interior needs a good cleaning, the exterior needs a good waxing...and that's about it.

But it's not like I don't have enough on my plate to keep my busy.....already have another boat and a spare 50hp Evinrude in the shed....

Guess I just have too much $$ and this is just the current way being provided to part me from my excess cash.

How much u spending on GPS unit? Gotta have one. Doesn't matter that you've lived your life on the lake and know it in your sleep, you have to have a GPS unit. Nine inch screen minimum.

A friend of mine has a boat he inherited from his dad (1976 Rienell). In the last 4 years we have taken it camping with us every summer. We've pretty much rebuilt the engine over those 4 years. In addition to replacing flooring, patching the hull, etc...

It's always something. It's a blast once you get it out on the water though. Nothing like tubing behind a 200hp speed boat.

Tubing - the 200hp doesn't even matter. If you even attempt to go anywhere near using all those horses, you can kill the person long before then. At about 25mph, I've knocked the bathing suit completely off someone.

A guy behind a 200hp boat was going about 55mph and I was on the tube. Needless to say, I ended up in the hospital with a dislocated shoulder.

You're lucky it was just a dislocated shoulder. The difference between wrecking on pavement at 55mph and wrecking on water at 55mph is the road rash. The rest of the injuries are similar.

was she hot with big boobies?

I inherited a 16' Hewes Craft aluminum hull with a 40-horse Johnson engine from my grandfather this summer. Thing is a little beat up but after having the carbs rebuilt on the motor it's running like a champ. I need to get another battery or two for the eletric trolling motor mounted on the bow, but it's seaworthy as-is right now.

I took it out on Puget Sound just this Saturday, jigging for bottom fish. Caught a handful of sole and flounder, and caught one cabezon. All in all a pretty good time.

The best way to acquire a boat is inheritance. Hands down. 😀

I'd never heard of that fish, so I googled it. Mean looking little ah heck - your big enough to eat?

The one I caught wasnt very big, no. They do have teeth, though, even if they are small ones so you gotta take some care in removing the hooks.

We used 1oz jig heads with a variety of skirts, and baited our hooks with chunks of shrimp that I simply bought from the supermarket. They were biting like crazy, but we didn't pull up anything very sizeable. Definitely donated about a half-dozen jig skirts and a couple of jig heads, though.
