I am Air Force. Current AFSC (Air Force Specialty Code...my job) (MOS) is 3C251. That is a Communications-Systems Control (Tech Control). I handle long-haul comms (Multiplexed Trunks) and Infrastructure (Switches and Routers). This job is the best! Very high demand on the outside though. That is why they pay us such large bonuses. Job offers come in weekly. I am stable, drug free, and very dependable. Companies fight to get military folk. I do spend a lot of time on AToT. :)

I was a K1A571. That is an Instructor Airborne Radar Tech on AWACS. I got tired of flying so I retrained.

For those thinking of joining. As in my sig, don't do it as a heat of the moment thing. Think about it. It is a life change. I do appluad those who want to make a difference. When you do become "one of many", keep your current vision. It can be cloudy at times. Swabbing the decks can get old in the beginning. It only gets better. :)

Mentioned above, enlisted sign a contract. Officers have a indefinite "Date of Separation". Mine is now Nov 17th 2006. :)

I am planning on doing my 20 years (12 to go) and retire. I will be 39 years old and will have a garanteed monthly house payment. I can get another job and just enjoy life.

I do appriciate the thanks and slautes. I was worried that people would think I posted just to get the attention. I did not. I just wanted everyone to know that there are people out here who want to serve. This is a volunteer force. We are here because we want to be here.

I have seriously been thinking of enlisting also. Would they still take a 32 year old?

I think 33 or 35 is the cut off for enlisted but 31 for officer other than medical/dental. I thought you'd have to have at least a B.S. in accounting/finance to qualify as a CPA :)

More like Hooaahh!

Mine was the Air Force version. Yours is Army. It would be "Oooo-rah!" for the Marine Corps. I don't know what the Navy says. "Aaaaahhh"?

I stand corrected, thanks Propellerhead. I'm a former Army Field Artillery Officer myself. I admit I don't know much about the Air Force.

I have and I am. But accounting is not what I want to do with my life.

It's usually something like:

"Your welcome, ma'am.
Then you hear some grateful sounding female voice, then
"No really, there's no charge."

Then I would recommend OCS with your credentials. I mean why would you go elisted? There are waivers for age up to 35 and the pay and responsiblity is much greater as an officer. Then you can go into any field you choose. I am 31 and could'nt see myself starting over as enlisted again (the first two years are a PITA and your are basically a nobody but then it gets good).
