Many mail servers would deliver a message to "barbecue" if it was addressed to "barbecuechicken" or "barbecuepork" -- assuming those 2 accounts don't actually exist.

I think that explained the jihadist emails but not this. I never actually used this email account, I just log in now and then for amusement.
