I received a non-functional LaserJet - I opened it up...

and found what appears to be the heating element to be broken, check pics:

does anyone have any idea how much these cost or where I might be able to find junked laserjets and rip the heating element out of them?

Judging by the look of your pics, I don't think it will be worth the effort to fix it. Especially considering
the price of inkjets, etc.

I too have seen old hp lasers for a couple bucks, this might be more practical for ya
