Since it is more afforable to eat at home, we like to cook dinners like 4 times a week. We have just gotten into this rut of cooking the same things each week. I need something different to cook. Does anyoe have any good dinner ideas. Any home cooked recipes would be great. :D

allrecipes.com is a great site for ideas. I am a complete idiot when it comes to cooking, but even i found some ideas at that site. Get a few cookbooks too, that'll help. I actually love cooking now that my gf introduce me to it (she went to a chef school in New England, so she's a pretty damn good cook) and to the Food Network (i use to laugh at that channel... a channel with nothing but cooking, how exciting could that be! but i love it! Especially IRON CHEF!).

Spaghetti with homemade sauce (beats the pabnts off that Ragu stuff), lemon chicken, spicey chicken, sloppy joe, alfredo, stuff like that.

You could also try different types of food, like Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Greek, etc.

If you like chicken and/or potatoes there are dozens of different ways to cook them. I personally like lemon-pepper chicken, and creamy 'ol grotten potatoes the best.

Thanks for the input. I did find a good spring roll recipe on foodtv.com. I am just not sure my local grocery ( Publix ) sells "spring roll rappers" . Has anyone made these at home?

Naw, they're not worth making. But you can buy them extremely cheap in most asian stores (my parents sells them in their store).

OMG, the last 20 meals i've had, 9/10 of them have been on the BBQ. Think i'm finally getting sick of it.

We always cook dinner at home. The greatest boon to varying our recipes lately has been our new Crock Pot. We got it at Target on clearance and then we bought a book called "Best-Loved Slow Cooker Recipes" at Costco for like 10 bucks.

There are literally so many recipes we want to try, it's ridiculous. Stuff takes a really long time to cook, so we usually prepare the food the night before, then put the crock pot (the removable inside part) in the fridge. We take it out and start it cooking in the morning, and when we get home it's usually done and we can just eat it. Pot roasts and other beef dishes are REALLY delicious because meat and vegetables get so soft. The last thing we had was this shredded beef stuff with homemade barbecue sauce... good lord it was good. Your house smells really good when you get home, too. :)

Other than that, a meal we eat often is taco salad... It's pretty easy.
Just cook up some ground beef with taco seasoning, then cool it off (so it doesn't wilt the lettuce). Mix the meat with lettuce and some chopped green onions. Then crumble some tortilla chips on your plate and put the salad on top. I like to add a little shredded cheese, sliced jalapeños, and sour cream. Top it with Kraft Catalina dressing (important!) and mix it all up. It's a good salad meal for those hot summer days.

Ohhhhh.....taco salad is soooooooooo good. I'm getting hungry thinking about it.

I made some excellent burgers the other night based on a recipe I saw on the local news. I fried up some bacon, crumbled it, and put about 1/4 cup of it along with 1/2 cup cheese into the hamburger meat. I then grilled them right on the rack, rather then the normal burger pan thingy. I think all the cheese bubbled out, but the bacon made them taste excellent.

Stir Fry is quick and easy if you have a Wok and keep the veggies pre-made and frozen. I'll sometimes make the sauce up ahead of time and keep it in the fridge, but not usually. If you buy boneless chicken breasts, its even easier.

My mother used to make a tater-tot caserole that was really good. Haven't seen that in a while though, so I don't remember too much about the ingrediants. I do know it took ground beef, cream of mushroom soup, cheese sauce, and tater tots. No idea in what order though ;)

Home made lasagna is always good, but that takes some time I guess. I haven't had that in many years (I think it's due to the fact that when I was a wee lad, and my mother would make it, I'd make these horrific gagging noises at the dinner table, because I didn't want to eat it. I may have scarred her for life, even though I told her I really like her lasagna).

All the input is great. Thanks..

Looks like I need a cookbook on crock pot cooking after reading bigsmooth post. I really like the idea of throwing everything into the pot and let it go...:D

put butter and pinenuts in a skillet, toast to golden brown, add garlic, and your choice of seafood (shrimp or scallops are good). cook till shrimp are almost done, add 1/2 and 1/2 or heavy cream, reduce down over a med high heat stirring constantly, when sauce begins to thicken add fresh spinach. serve over pasta. yummy good.

Whip out the grill and start grillin'

boneless skinless chicken breast is the norm in my house. It keeps the house cool cuz the stove is never turned on and I throw some onion on the grill and tomatoes and green peppers. The grill does it all!

and there are all kinds of ways to season chicken, you can even make up stuff! Be careful tho'

Yeah, we have them all the time. My mom usually makes them with like slices of pork and shrimp in them. They're great. =) You can definitely find the spring roll wrappers at a Chinese supermarket. They sell them for pretty cheap. I suggest you buy the larger ones, since they come in different sizes. They're a little hard to wrap, since the wrappers are easy to tear and all the stuff can come falling out.
