I really need some Geography help!

Quick,

I need to find the area of the Roman empire, Alexander's empire, Mesopotamia, Han Dynasty, Ancient Greece, Ancient Egypt, Byzantine empire, and the Islamic empire.

I have no idea where to start.

Please help.

Truly appreciated.
 
Typically, if you need to find out this basic type of information, it will usually be for some kind of history class. For that class, typically you'll have some kind of history book available which will have that information handy in easy-to-digest form. Otherwise, Google is a good starting point, as would be the library.

What's a book? Who needs a book, when I can just get on AT and have someone else do my homework for me.

I've tried google but I haven't found anything.

I've tried searching for "Roman Empire area" to no avail.

I just need to know where to get started, Unfortunately, I'm in a remote area with no access to libraries.

Uhm... I still am surprised sometimes at how bad people can be at searching something on Google.

Searched for: Roman Empire

Found on the first page, with Google already mentioning the map part: MAP

Now you try for the others.

Muchos gracias but none of those maps have areas in square miles. How should I go about calculating this. Any ideas would be welcomed. THanks everyone so far including the penguin dude and the alien dude. Oh and the Frankenstein dude too. 🙂

Search: Roman Empire square miles

2.5M square miles according to this one
Nearly 2M square miles according to this one
 
Your best bet is to get an atlas (google search for "cia world fact book"

That will tell you the area in miles of all these countries. Then add up the areas from as many countries are in the empire. If there's half a country, only add half. Probably no need to add luxembourg, malta, et al.

After all, the difference between 2 000 000 and 2 500 000 mi^2 is pretty substantial 🙂

Or, if you're feeling really snazzy

I think the world's circumference at the equator is 25000 miles. I don't know the surface area equation any more, but just solve for area (or google search for world surface area [4/3 pi r ^3 is volume?) and get your handy dandy map, and figure out what pct of the world it covers. Then again, that's needlessly complex.
