I would not waste my time with a 5.1 system as unless you are listening to dvd audio there really is no point...

Get these. You will love them. I know I do...and yes I've owned a variety of 2.1 systems :)

Having the 2200's for a year or 2, I highly recommend buying these. The imprvement over the 2300 is insignificant. You can get these at a lower price. My recommendation is DO SO. Yesterday's technology at today's prices. The bottom line is sound output. I hook these up tp my 52" in the rec room, for the boys to watch football. Just like being there.

HELL YES! Man I love these speakers. Highly Reccomended. Just 2 questions.

1) Is it safe to have the bass volume at max or can that easily damage the subwoofer? I never really put the main volume pasthalf way.

2) At the moment the subwoofer is at the same level as my laptop, should it be lower? Like under the desk?

Oh and 40miles, I don't think there are any z-2200s left in Australia. I checheck and not one shop had them.

1. The bass level being on max shouldn't really hurt anything as long as you don't have the volume up really high too. You might end up blowing something out (fuse or woofer itself).
Might want to take it easy for a while and let things loosen up a little before blasting it (I'm sure you did already though ;))

When I had my sub up really high in my z-560 set when I was volunteering as a DJ at a college dance/party, it was producing some ozone that I could smell so I think I was pushing it a little too hard heh.

That was after I had them for a couple years though so I didn't really mind if I killed them.

2. Generally people tend to put their subs on the ground. There's no rule you can't have it up higher, so do whatever sounds best in your room.

Thanks for the help man. So far I have put the bass on 3/4 of the way. The volume is usually just before half way. I was thinking that putting it on the ground may have been better but I like it on the desk. By the way, the subwoofer is massive!
