Smart decision.

I thought they already had 2-4 Clean Diesel vehicles here?

Chuck

yeah true, but i think thats the ML and GL and E class only.

i guess i was thinking more in the price range of a C class.

i guess probalby best bet if you want a sedan is the 320d when it comes out this summer if you wanted to save gas.

Gotcha. And yes, it'll be interesting to see what that is going to put up as far as EPA numbers when it comes out.

They are going to bring out the C350 diesel variant here, the spec of that engine is 2987cc 24v V6, 261bhp @ 3800rpm, 457lb ft. A big improvement on the 200 or so of the C250.

I have driven a C350 estate fully loaded and it pulls like a train...better i'd say than a 535D with people in it.

ah wow interesting. i guess that makes sense since its already in all those other cars and they dont have to certify another power train combo.

i've driven a 335d before and i can imagine it'd be pretty similar way to drive. its definitely different, like endless torque, but no rev happy fun

Ah yeah, the torque figure is misleading anyway as the gears these cars run are way higher than petrols, even 7 speed auto's. I remember them marketing the Skoda Fabia VRS 1.9 TDI here as having as much torque as a Porsche Boxster....yet it was not even nearly as quick, in any gear...meaningless really.
