Creative Good, a New York consulting firm, claimed that 39% of shoppers
fail in their attempts to purchase merchandise on-line because Web sites are
too complex. They estimated that this would translate into a loss of more
than $6 billion for on-line merchants during the 1999 holiday season (Forbes,
Dec. 3, 1999). Another consulting firm asked a random sample of 60 on-line
shoppers to each test a different randomly selected e-commerce Web site.
Only 15 reported sufficient frustration with their sites to deter making a
purchase.
14. Specify the rejection region for the decision rule corresponding to a 0.05 level of
significance.
reject H0 if the test statistic < -1.96 or > 1.96
15. Specify the value of the test statistic.
- 2.22
16. Compute the p-value corresponding to the test statistic using Excel.
0.0132
17. What are your best estimates of the proportion of people who would become
frustrated with the Web sites and the standard error of that estimate?
18. Estimate the proportion of people who would become frustrated with the ecommerce
Web sites with a 90% confidence interval.
Still can't find 17 and 18
