i ran over a squirrel today

spanky

Lifer
time - 7:50am
place - NJ GSP exit 137 (around there)
damage - probably some guts in my tire tread

it was so wierd. i saw this little brown thing and thought it was prolly a piece of garbage. as i got closer, i saw it moved... stopped... moved. i was like "WTF??? its a squirrel!" so now at this point, i am thinking... to try to dodge or no? in my experience, they usually dart away at the last sec, but this one must have been suicidal. it seemed like it was trying to align itself with my front drivers side tire. was it's playing a game of chicken? then.... "buh-bump"... looked in rear view mirror and saw the body flip flop a few times and just went "eeeeeeeewwww". i felt kinda bad tho. that squirrel had no business on the parkway dammit!

Better to hit the little guy rather than a car/curb/person/ etc. trying to avoid it. It'll be okay, God will make more😉

Well, actually other squirrels will make more, but that's besides the point.

Uhhh...I was being silly

Squirrels are not too smart. When in danger, they usually scurry up the closest tree or run off and hide in a bush. But when they are out in the open and there is nothing to hide behind/in, they try to be as still as they can to trick the predator into thinking that it is only an inanimate object, i.e. a rock or something.

Too bad this doesn't really in the middle of a road.

Too bad you couldn't run one over in my neighbourhood, I get home and see it running off with a flower bulb or something in it's mouth it just dug up from my flowers :|
