I installed Mozilla 1.3a alpha without any help.:D

Oh, this was in Linux (Redhat 8.0) which I am just learning how to use. And I used the terminal the whole time.

I wonder what people would say if someone came in here bragging about how proud they were that they installed an app in widows.

Probably roll their eyes.

But if someone came in and said "I just figured out how to install a program in DOS for the first time" that would be a bit more impressive.

you mean run "install.exe"?

to install mozilla in linux, you do: tar -zxvf mozilla.tar.gz;mozilla-installer/mozilla-installer

Damn right!

I know I am "old", but I've been in "business" since 1987, when I installed first computer system to this company. A server and "dump terminals"... I sure would like to see some present day compuwhiz do that! :D

Its a bit more complicated than that (at least for me), but yah that is the gist of it. It is still cool that it works:)

Well, that's all I had to do earlier tonight when I upgraded my old 0.9x beta version to 1.02 :)

I'm not insulting you or anything, everyone starts at the bottom, and you're working you're way up. I jsut wonder why people automatically find anything that involves typing to be so much more difficult than clicking.

Well, it wasn't exactly the installing itself that I was celebrating... but everything leading up to it. How to log in as root, and what this means. How to create a directory, browse, and find files. How to un "tar.gz" them. How to use the installer... all that kind of stuff that lead up to the actuall "installing" of Mozilla 1.3a. It is the first actual real application of the knowledge that I have been gaining over the past two days or so since i have installed Redhat 8.0 :)

And all that is a heck of a lot more complicating than "click->click->double-click->yes->yes->yes->finish", at least IMO.

Umm... I believe all browser versions can open multiple windows. You couldn't?

maybe you were running into the same problem as me. Here is the link to the thread I created and the solution I found (at bottom) link

BTW... 1.3a is nice. Anti-Alaising text makes text look a lot nicer :)
