I quit my job today

I finally got fed up with the bullsh|t. Had a long talk with my boss, told him that I felt it wasn't worth it for me on the salary I was making. I drive almost 200 miles a day, the company paid for gas and tolls, but the wear and tear on my car is costing me thousands of dollars. Some of my superiors in the co. are complete jackasses who shouldn't have a job anywhere. My boss advised me against leaving, but my mind was made up. They asked me to stay for another month and help train in my replacement, and I agreed. No sense leaving with hard feelings.

UPDATE: Well, I'm finally a free man! They kept asking me to come back for another week, and another, but now I'm free. I have many different options in many different fields now. Thankfully I'm getting alot of calls with job offers.

well do you have another offer?
Nothing concrete yet, but I'm not worried. I may be starting my own business, but even if I can always get a graphic design job.

Put in my two week notice as well last Wednesday. Nothing like getting your @$$ chewed for making sure one of the department managers can connect to their webinar on time.

Good luck though man.

200 miles a day?

200 miles * 5 days * 50 weeks = 50,000 miles!!! Thats a freaking new car needed every 3-4 years, and thats only if you get a good one to begin with!

Man, my ~12k miles a year used to seem high...

what did you do for job?

I managed several apartment complexes.

seriously? You need to put your talent into Graphic Design or something

[edit] I didnt read your next post when I replied to that.. Now I see it 😛

200 miles?

wouldn't an easier solution be to move closer?

unless you live with a SO and she works in the area you live in than i really see no point in living that far away from work

i would never ever have a job that had a 35 minute+ commute
