They have a reason to get upset, we have their money. They get upset because they say their account number too fast and I say excuse me can you repeat that for me? And then they go again and say it super duper fast like I'm some robot that I memorize what he or she just said. Then there are those that call and you can't hear them well and they get pissed off at you because you keep asking them to repeat themselves. Then you have the people who are always overdrawn on their account because they can't keep track of their money and ask for the fees to be reversed! It was your damn fault for not watching your checkbook!

Sounds like you could have had some fun with the customers, at least on your last day of work

"What is your account number?"
"145239402121"
"1?"
"145239402121"
"14?"
"145239402121"
145?"
"GARRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!"

...

"I want the charges on my overdraft reversed!"
"You want what on the what what?"

...

I think I would be a great anti-customer employee!!!

I hated doing Customer Service... nothing says great job like having to listen to people complain about your company all day and hold you personally responsible for facets of life that you have no control over.

Customer: the bus is late! where is it?
Me: sorry, ma'am, it broke down, so there's going to be a slight delay.
Customer: wha wha what!? if the bus is broken down, why aren't you fixing it?
Me: erm, I don't really have the technical skills to repair a bus, not to mention it's several hours away.......

fun things like that :p

Yes, I've worked in call centers since I was 17... I'm 21 now.

1st job: Staples Call Center, customer service inbound calls. "My G--D--m box of paper is late, I'm losing money. Where the hell is my paper?!?!!?" Was there about 1.5 years

2nd job: Citibank Call Center, collections outbound calls. "Sir, you need to go grab your checkbook and make a payment. I know you're in the IT field and things are rough right now, but you should've had a savings before your life crumbled before your eyes. Go get your checkbook." 1.5 years

3rd job (currently): Interstar, customer service inbound . "Hey bud, I'm broke down on the side of the road. Why don't you get your damn company out here and get me rolling again."

I'm getting sick of it =(

You must have some nice customers? I try to be cordial when I'm on the phone with them. Of the dozens of customer service people I've spoken to a good portion of them are incompetent, but I still try not to lose it with them, because it's not that they're dumb, but just that they have been put there with inadequate training. I've never lost it with one or gotten nasty.

Now, if you work in telemarketing, you deserve every cursing asshole who calls you up! :p
