And based on my current rate of bleeding over the last half hour, I'll bleed out sometime in the next 2-3 weeks.

I'm looking for some advice on how to handle this. I'm too young to die. I still have contributions to make to society...

Failing that, I still have chicks to bang.

Once the bleeding stops, be very excited for when the pain starts....in a day or 2.

1. Direct pressure
2. Cold compress
3. Elevate bleeding area above heart

Try all that for 1/2 hour. If it fails to work, you might have to use a tourniquet. Just to be safe, and for maximum coverage, start with one at your neck. :sneaky:

Weird. I just pulled one yesterday. It bled but not gushing like yours.
Mine hurts now, as DaTT said.
Mine was the outside of the big toe on my left foot.

They are a strange phenomenon...

I wouldn't be overly concerned with the bleeding as that will eventualy stop. I would be more concerned with the infection that is right now setting in and will be a wonderfully painfull experience. Try to disinfect the affected area with an ample amount of a neosporin equivalent once the bleeding stops.

I ripped one out over the weekend (Saturday I believe). Bled some but not terribly bad. Still hurts but getting slightly better.

i hate pulling those things, they always sting worse/longer than a papercut whenever there's a little pressure. usually trimming at the bottom with an exacto knife works.

Don't pull hangnails on toes. It can cause an ingrown toenail which might not get better until you get it cut out by a doctor. Those are very painful. When you get a hangnail, just put a bandaid on it for a few days so it won't catch on something.

Pickup some epsom salt and iodine from your pharmacy. Fill large pot or bucket with water hot enough to be bearable, add a bunch of salt, and a squirt of iodine. Soak your foot for half an hour.

Do that once a day for a week. Then after that leave it alone and try to keep your foot dry. Don't pick at it.

Picking at the toes is so relaxing, especially when watching TV or sitting close to your spouse, who is eating dinner. Trying to pull the ingrown toe nail out with tweezers or needle nose pliars is also a nice hobby and there is such a release of pain when you finally get it. My oh my, that is good! Make sure to save the pulled out piece for your spouse to inspect. Thats actually the best part next to the collection of toe-jam I've saved for her.

1. Take some lemon juice and saturate it with table salt and apply the mixture directly to the open wound.

2. Then apply pressure using an alcohol soaked paper towel.

3. Leave towel on until bleeding subsides, and then pull it off quickly.

4. Repeat steps 1 - 3 until wound stops bleeding or patient passes out.

I never bled from a hangnail until I pulled one from my left hand last week. I just yanked it and went about my business, unaware that it was bleeding. I looked down a little while later and noticed dried blood all around my finger nail and I had to wonder how much I had unknowingly dripped all over.

Make sure you scrub and keep it clean/covered daily. People have died from infection from what you just did. The toes are full of bacteria/fungus.

Just soak it in some cold water. You probably tore part of the nail bed, which is full of blood vessels. The cold water will cause the vessels to constrict and should stop the bleeding shortly.
