I have been using the same ~$500 chair my old company purchased for me since 2000 and I think it is time for a new chair. My back has really started to hurt after sitting at my desk for 8 hours. I take breaks, stretch and all that good stuff but my back still aches and 3-4x a year I am in intense pain (pinched nerve?) for 4-5 days straight.

So I am looking for a new chair. I wouldn't mind going Aeron but I would prefer to spend less if there is a comparable chair out there.

So programmers who sit in their chair for 8 hours a day... What do you use and do you like it?

EDIT: Also, do you keep the arms on your chair or take them off? I could never get use to the cramped feeling of the arms but most of the higher end chairs seem to have fixed arms...

Mods: I put this here because I figured I would get more focused responses than in OT. Please feel free to move if inappropriate.

i sit in a steelcase leap chair for about 9 hours a day

my ass doesn't get sore in it
leap

i like it a lot better than the aeron i had before it...i really think the aeron is overrated

btw, in the link i provided the first review is kinda negative. something about the seat not having enough padding.
i weigh in higher than him and i have no complaints (nor do all 40 coworkers who also sit in leap chairs)
