I never have, nor will I ever pay another company on a monthly basis to play a damn game.

Stupid.

It costs $15 a month. That's less than seeing two movies. I find it strange that people complain about paying for a game that they'd spend hours and hours playing, but will have a collection of 1000 DVDs that cost $20 each.

Or go to Starbucks (or any other coffee place) 3-4 times a month.

DVDs last for a while, and you can watch them multiple times. Coffee serves an effective purpose for a lot of people. The only puporse Wow money serves is to waste your time and make blizzard richer (so they can postpone the creation of Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 Even MORE)

Let's analyze the whole monthly payment thing. Have you not payed $15 for a used game or something and only played it for a couple week and beat it? I've actually saved money playing WoW. Because WoW is so much fun and there is so much to do, I don't really play other games (except FFXII, I picked that up) so I'm not always going to the store and shelling out another 40-50 dollars for something that will keep me entertained for another couple weeks.

I'm level 165 right now and it's still boring. No point in just leveling up to get better weapons and armor. Of course I play free on a standalone server where the capped level is 255. Tis boring indeed.

WTH would you play a game to level 165 if it's boring?

One of my employees just started playing that game last weekend. He came in the next day and told me how stupid it was. Today he came in and said he was up to level six and added, "God that's a boring game. I have no idea why I'm still playing it."

Does this game come with a free vial of crack or something?

Seriously... WTF?

As opposed to what? Watching low-income people fighting one another on Jerry Springer? Watching stupid people vote other stupid people off a stupid island on a stupid show about some stupid game with stupid arbitrary rules? Oh I know, watching people eat slugs! Hyep Jimbob, that-thar's good TV!

I want entertainment, plain and simple. MMORPGs serve this purpose admirably and economically. How much is your cable bill?

I know. I wouldn't bother if it didn't entertain me to some degree pointing out the hypocrisy in paying a $50-$200+ cable bill to watch some of the worst programming ever invented while denouncing a source of social interaction, cognitive involvement and entertainment which is $15. I think most of them are jaded college kids who played too much WoW, failed a semester and now blast WoW at every opportunity they get rather than man up and accept responsibility for their actions.

Looking back, I wish that I would have spent the 750 hours that I spent playing WoW doing something productive. I probably could have built an entertainment center, learned Spanish, or something else useful. Instead, I ended up with a some virtual rare sword with +22 Strength that I'll never even see again because I canceled my account. Grr.

Yeah, it sucks. Enjoying life is retarded, since there's an afterlife and we take our knowledge and posessions with us when we go.

I love it when people start to argue that video games make them smarter, that they are so well-informed to choose spending time on a video game rather than watching "crap" on TV. Admit it: you're sadly addicted.

I've already admitted it :)
I just don't pay monthly fees for it...

It's unfortunate that WoW has so many young players, this is true. However there are excellent ways to avoid most of them, such as playing horde, turning off chat channels and joining a like-minded guild.

Battlegrounds are what make PvP good. You don't have to hear your opponent claim it was lag or tell you "2 wut y 4 plz b ur mom lololz", since there's no cross faction communication outside of emotes. You get structure; goals to be achieved through team organization. And let's not forget PvP rewards.

Everquest 2 is a hilarious joke. It's a Sony/SOE game; their meddling in EQ1 after its lead dev left is what made me quit. They've likewise ruined Planetside and SW:G through their supreme cheapness and incompetence. They advertise in their games and you have to click through ads to even log in. From what I've heard, the recent combat revamp in EQ2 ruined that game as well... though I'm not sure you can ruin what's already been ruined by virtue of its developers. Sony is a virus. They poison everything they touch, the antithesis of a Midas Touch. They'll never make another penny off me.

ps - Enjoy your rootkits.

I guess you'd have to try it out to really have a valid opinion of eq2 then. You see, I actually played eq2 and WoW at the same time for about a year, I have 2 level 60's in WoW, and 1 level 70 in EQ2. I quit WoW because of all the chinese gold farmers destroying the economy, and WoW not adding "good" new content. They add retarded shiat like weather effects, new quests, and more crap raid zones. Eq2 actually adds a ton of new stuff in expansions, where is WoW's expansion? It's been out 2 years and not 1? What a crock. You play eq2 for 6 months and tell me it doesn't pwn WoW.

As for the recent pvp revamp, it wasn't really even a revamp, they made a couple classes more powerful and nerfed a couple more that were total bs 1 shotting everyone. IMO they've done nothing but make eq2 better since the day of release, making it more and more like eq1 (only like 2000 years in the future because of the lore). And the only reason so many more people play WoW is because blizzard is full of attention wh0res and they advertise the game NONSTOP, I see commercials on TV, and adds lurking all over the internet. Blizzard is lame.

And what the hell are you talking about advertising in their game? I've never once had to click an ad to log in.

Screw that, man. I'm living forever! And even if I DO die, I'm gonna find a way to take it with me :)

Heh, you paid for expansions which gave you less new content than Blizzard has added to WoW for free. Sony has even come up with a new way to extract money from your wallets with EQ2; "Extensions". It's not... well, it's not really much of anything :Q But they'll be damned if you're gonna get it for free

I put up with Sony long enough playing EQ1, and heard the horror stories from SW:G and Planetside players which I could fully relate to despite not having played those games. It's the Sony way, and it stinks. No thanks.

I never said it was good for you :p But if you're going to veg out in front of a screen, MMOGs at least offer social interaction, necessitate using your head and are cheaper, in contrast to TV.

Actually, my university provides cable, so I watch it here, but at home I only have broadcast.

I'd like an explanation of why it has 10x as many players as Everquest ever did!

Maybe a better video card then.

It's the cartoonish nature of the graphics.
