Question I oscillate between 8700k ,6800k or 7820x

I don't have too much money to invest in modern PC platform for the moment,and all i want is, to replace my obsolete system and buy a decent gaming system.For the moment i have an i7 990x processor and i can 't start some modern games like Resident Evil Village and Dying Light 2 just because lack of AVX technology.I wanted to play RE Village so much and i saw it required a strong CPU at minimal requirments,at least an i7 8700k to play...Wow!
I still don't have a budget for i7 8700k+z370 or z390 mobo,and i found a cheap system with i7 6800k paired with Asus rampage 5 extreme mobo.
This system 6800K+asus rampage 5 cost me 200 $. The other system i7 8700k+z370 cost me around 300 $.I found another i7 8700K+z390+32 Gb RAM and this system cost me 400 $.I don't know what to do.My budget is around 300 $ max.
I checked with CPU-z from google,and 8700k and 6800k have same set of Instructions.I'm just wonder if that game Resident Evil village requires at least 8700k to start that game?With 6800k start RE Village or not?I don't want to have problem to buy an entire system and can't start that game....

My advice would be to take a hard look at i5 12400(F). If you only need the CPU + MB + RAM then you can make it work within $300 and will outperform any of the systems you mentioned. The 12400 is a faster gaming CPU than the 10700K.

The same applies for a system built around the R5 5600 from AMD, which is your second and equal option. Shop around and see which platform is cheaper in your area: the 12400(F) + LGA 1700 mobo or 5600 + AM4 mobo.

With $300, you can build a Ryzen 5600 system that outperforms (and requires significantly less power than) any of the builds you're considering. And we're talking about a brand new system with a manufacturer's warranty, which used parts will not provide.

I agree with @coercitiv and @JayMX

If you're putting money into an upgrade you might as well go for the best possible upgrade in terms of performance rather than digging in the dumpster for something that's 6 years old in terms of CPU. I personally wouldn't do an I5 but, my budget allows for a step up to get the extra cores that come with the I7.

Check out pcpartpicker.com and throw some options together to get an idea of pricing. Since you can port over everything else from your current build to the new CPU/MOBO/RAM it shouldn't be a huge headache to do. The only thing that might throw you for a loop is converting the drive from MBR to UEFI/GPT but, there's plenty of how to's out there to get it done in minutes w/o risking your data. It's a simple process.

Which graphics card do you have? What if the game is able to start with your new system but the gameplay is a slideshow because your GPU can't handle running Resident Evil Village?

Cezanne, Vermeer or Alderlake CPU+mobo combos can be had for less than $300 as the above posters show.

Stay away from Broadwell or Skylake X unless you can get it essentially for free. You're getting less performance/$ and higher idle and loaded power use for no benefit.

It is a 4/8 core system just like you are looking at and does the games I want pretty well. I'm now four months into using it and no complaints.

I tossed a GTX 1050Ti for graphics because it was "cheap". This was partial reused(system I put it in died shortly after I bought it)

I reused my case and power supply.

i wanted 7820x because was perfect for me....but i have bad luck

If it's just desktop use and you want an older HEDT setup because it's cool and was top of the line gear that's fine, but as others said you can get a 6 core 12 thread 5600 + MB + 32GB of DDR4 ram new for US$300 (at least in the States) and it'd run circles around those other chips in most tasks.

Yeah, I saw that. Just wondering if there's something else like he needs AVX512 performance or something. If it's just games, it doesn't make sense to keep coming back to running used Skylake HEDT for the same price or more than something like the 5600 or 12400F that people are recommending.

in my countries VAT taxes are enormous,because sellers want to rich.Here in my country setup like 5600+MB+32Gb is over 300$....
And beside that i don't like AMD CPU.Intel it was always over AMD at overall performance.

I have 36y old and I remember the time when AMD k6-2 400 mhz tried to beat pentium 2 klamath at 266mhz.That k6-2 had no chance against Klamath.Different arhitecture,different slot....In my conclusion AMD will never beat Intel at CPU segment.
I using program too like avidemux for remux,editing and transcoding video ,not only for games...so for me, more cores is better

Since x3d versions of AMD 7000 series, I would stall until they come out, as most likely they will totally dominate gaming, and they have avx-512, which Intel does NOT, plus the platform is upgradable. But as long as you keep CPUs that may not be an issue.

As for AMD not beating Intel in CPUs, they dominate the server market, and depending on the task win or draw VS Raptor lake, and as I said, most likely will totally crush Intel with the 7000 3xd chips. Sometime in Feb. this year, as in 28 days or less.

Not happening since the only Intel CPU other than that 7820X that has AVX-512 is Ice Lake/Rocket Lake. Intel 4th gen to 10th gen desktop and then 12th/13th gen do not have AVX-512. Just based on the sheer size of the installed base of non-AVX512 compatible CPUs in the consumer market, no game developer is gonna be stupid enough to target AVX-512 specifically, without including an alternate AVX2 execution path for the majority of other CPUs.

It does have AVX-512. You just managed to get some CPU-Z screenshot that does not show it, or maybe Intel is disabling AVX-512 in all consumer CPUs with recent microcode updates.
