you wouldn't happen to live in London Ontario would you?
I know a girl there that exclusively uses other peoples wireless networks...

Yeah, I love how it's considered high crime to access an unsecured network, and yet Windows does it automatically. I can easily see how someone who wasn't very computer literate could be breaking the law and not even knowing about it.

Reminds me of when my dad bought a new laptop.

I had it here at my house to get it setup, apps loaded, and all data transferred over from his old one.

While I was setting it up I enabled the wireless card just to make sure it works... but I never disabled it. (He still uses dial up... ugh)

One day he calls me and wants to know why when he goes to a site it's alot faster than when my mom goes to a site (from her desktop... which is relatilvey new)

Beats me... so I stop by.

He dials in.. and sure enough everything loads pretty quick... my mom... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I look around and notice he's attached to a wireless network... and getting a good signal.

He was, unknowingly, attaching to the neighbor's wireless and it was overriding the dial up.

The good part is, I made a few extra bucks adding security to their neoghbors router... bad news is.. no more free "high speed" for my dad.

Note: He wont get cable/dsl/etc. He just doesn't want to pay for it. I try to convince him every so often... but he doesn't listen. lol

The haxor is not strong in this one. 75% packet loss means you're going to have a tough time listening to her Ricky Martin tunes.

But if you want to see what shares are available on a Windows machine, just go to start --> run --> \\192.168.1.67\ and it will show the shares.

there are better ways to get into her drive than by luring her into your wireless router

Same thing happened to me. I changed the router so they can't get online every day between 6:45 and 7pm and 8:15 to 8:30. That's gotta be frustrating as hell for them. :)
