Hi. I just bought a refurb motherboard from newegg and it didn't have the little plate that goes on the back of the case and none of the ones I have will fit properly. Anyone know where I can buy one like this for cheap? And how bad would it be to run without one? TIA.

You could try going to a mom & pop type store and ask if they have one for sale. My supplier has a box full of these things.

The one you have looks a lot like the one I got with my MSI KT4VL.

I don't know where any are around this area (currently at school) and I don't have a car either :( Would it be okay if I ran without one for a couple weeks until I could get home? Or could something get damaged easily?

Temporarily it should be ok. But you do run the risk of increased dust collecting inside the PC.

Been looking for one myself and while not really cheap, at $8 this outfit has the best price I've been able to find.

Like I said look for a smallish computer parts store. My supplier sells these for around $1.50 each.

I'd pick one up for that price, but there's no mom & pop stores anywhere near me - just CompUSA, Best Buy, etc. So I've been running without an I/O shield... I'm sure it's just for looks anyway, as the comp has been working just fine. Actually, I think the large opening allows more heat to escape from inside the case, as it's running quite cool. ;)

Actually, it is for EMI shielding. But, If you have no radio, tv, alien satelite signal, etc. interference, then it will be fine to run it without.
