I/O Range and IRQ for PCMCIA

hello all
I have this problem configuring the D-Link DFE-690TXD on a VERY old laptop (IBM 760XL) .. I installed WinME on it, installed drivers, i configured i to use TCP/IP, but it cannot pull an ip form the router.. I noticed in the Device Manager it said that the DLink card is not working because Windows Support For Programmable PCI Interrupts is not enabled..to Enable this support click Enable IRQ Steering...
So i go to Resources and the Input/Output Range has some problems, when i click on it on the bottom it states
Input/Output Range 0000-00FF used by Programmable Interrupt controller
Input/Output Range 0000-00FF used by:
Motherboard resources
How do i fix this problem?? Just change the Input/Output Range in SafeMode??? and if thats the case, to what can i change it to??
Any ideas??
thank-you

1 - if the lappy is very old - best to try 98se - less scud comes with it.

did you load all the chipset drivers?

ok, i formatted and installed Win98 (dont have Win98SE).. installed all chipset drivers..everything seems to be running good except the D-Link card which has a yellow exclamation point next to it in device manager... i double click on it and gives me the same things
Card is not working because Windows Support For Programmable PCI Interrupts is not enabled..to Enable this support click Enable IRQ Steering...clicked on it, retstarted and the the same message comes up..
when i click Resources Tab, it says not using any resources and if i wanted i can set it up manually..so i clicked on that button and get this message
Input/Output Range 0000-00FF used by Programmable Interrupt controller
Input/Output Range 0000-00FF used by:
Motherboard resources
I would appreciate all the help in setting up this card to access the network..

Try enabling it in the BIOS. Hold down F1 and power up the machine. Select the PCMCIA as one of the boot devices in the start ups. If the thinkpad configuration utility is still available in control panel, enable it under PC card Slots.
