wasn't it cheaper to order it from Staples using one of the $40 off coupons?

Ya, Staples.com had the Visor Deluxe for $249 about a week ago with $40 off coupon. Don't know if they still have it in stock.

I'm have a PalmPilot 3 for about 2 years already...I'll probably just upgrade when visor comes out with a color version.

Anyone get their free Handspring Visor for opening a DLJ Direct account? When (or if) I get mine, I am thinking of bringing the still shrink wrapped basic Visor to one of the BM stores and upgrading to the Deluxe. Since I won't have a receipt, I wonder which stores won't give me trouble. My guess is most stores want you to spend more money, so upgrading an unopened item should be little trouble.

$249? Isn't that the list price on Handspring.com? I got mine from Handspring direct 4 months ago for $249?

SimMike2 - I opened a DLJdirect account and called them up to verify they were sending me one. For some reason they didn't have me listed on the promotion even though I used the link to sign up online. Everybody who got in on this deal should call to verify their names are on the list. They said they are having problems with supply (duh it's called the AnandTech effect) and I should receive mine in seven or eight weeks. :frown:

[edit] That's supposed to be a frown?! It should be called the constipated icon...

Good God, It is 249.95 at handspring.com and staples.com. Only Staples will give you free shipping and $$ off with coupons. Just shop around. Staples is the place to buy the Visor Deluxe if you want to pay less than 250.00.

I got mine from DLJ Direct a couple weeks ago. Upgrading was discussed in this thread:

Upgrading from Palm IIIe to IIIxe at Office Depot

I also bought the OmniRemote springboard for it. It works great as a remote for my entire home theatre:

Sony DB930 receiver
Toshiba 3190 DVD
Toshiba 27" TV
Sony VCR SLV-M91HF Smartfile VHS
Sony CDP-CX450 Mega CD
Tivo PVR, 52 Hours

I use it to control everything, and it runs macros beautifully, (e.g. turn on a particular track on the CD to wake up to at 7:00 a.m., etc.)

Since this uses very little memory, I don't need to upgrade the Visor.

I did get a Palm IIIe from Citibank, and I took it to OD and told them I didn't buy it there, but would like to exchange it and buy the Palm IIIxe. ONc store said no over the phone, but the other one in my town said yes. I use Avantgo on it, which consumes more than the standard 2mb you get on the Palm IIIe, so it was worth the extra $100. Now if they would simply get a USB cradle for it like the Visor that works under Win2K!

Nitzylpick -- someone else posted the same thing about "not being on the list to get the Visor." I specifically sent DLJ Direct e-mail asking if I was on the list. They e-mailed back and said I should receive it in six to eight weeks. This e-mail has the persons full name and other data, so I think this is proof enough that I am in this promotion. I am going to let it ride until the end of the month, when the eight weeks are up.

Where I think DLJ might have been getting tricky is with the "customer agreement" document which you are supposed to sign and mail back within ten calendar days. Some people didn't get these until they called and asked for them. I mailed mine back but DLJ didn't acknowledge this in my account profile at the DLJ website. I ended up faxing them a copy just to make sure they got something within the ten calendar days. Maybe I am being overly nervous, but it seems like it would be convenient for DLJ to say the never received the customer agreement within the ten days, so you defaulted on your part of the promotion. Hopefully I am totally wrong about this stuff. Maybe DLJ was just overwhelmed with the response, the Anand effect, as someone said.
