I never thought I'd see people lined up around the block for $2.63 gas

Every pickup truck, SUV, Mustang and van in town was lined up at the local-ish Shell station. Apparently they had the same idea as me - fill up before the rape gets any worse.
 
On another note, it was kind of cool standing at the pump watching the dollar figure skyrocket. But then, I think I consumed about 6 gallons waiting for a damn pump. Because everyone also decided to take the liberty of leaving their vehicles parked at the pump and going shopping.

Well that is a stupid mentality....it is only going to last them a few days or a week. Rape? Nice to see the conspiracy theory about oil companies never dies. You people need to do some research to UNDERSTAND why prices are high. I realize it is easier for the lazy mind to lash out, blame, and crucify someone for the things they do not like and CANNOT control. If you don't like it then find a way to lower DEMAND. Try driving a car that gets decent mileage instead of a 12 mpg SUV.
 
They had gas about 3 miles from my work for $1.99 last night. They had to involve the police to keep things under control with the amount of people. Too bad it's not still that price today.

Yes, I know the economics behind it. And I was actually referring to the rape of owning a larger vehicle. Fortunately, these 35 gallons will last about 6 months (Since the damn thing averages use approximately NEVAR)

My daily driver (a minivan) gets ~25mpg, and I honestly don't care about putting gas in that thing.

Iv'e seen an interesting trend in my area recently( FL), people driving around in
large SUV's with the windows down (AC off) trying to save as much gas as possible.
Mind you that temps in this area hover in the 95-97 range with high humidity as
well. Gee lets see, poor fuel economy, plummeting resale value, high insurance,
and large payments. Glad I dont own one!
 
I just paid $3.08 per gallon 91 octane in Newport Beach, CA. And I need 91 octane for my car (RSX-S). Most I've paid so far... and I expect it'll get worse.

$2.63 is cheap gas when everything else around it is more expensive. It's all relative.

Or go talk to a European.
 
Eh, if it hits $3.00 or more for the cheapest stuff you can get I'm going to stop driving my blazer (which gets 21 or 22 mpg if I'm lucky) and drive my dad's intrepid (35mpg) or mom's lumina (32mpg)

Do you drive on ice or something? There's no way an Intrepid can get 35mpg unless you're doing 55mph without any slowing or accelerating while going downhill on an oil road.

Do you drive on ice or something? There's no way an Intrepid can get 35mpg unless you're doing 55mph without any slowing or accelerating while going downhill on an oil road.

Last fueled up our new prius with 9.25 gals after 453 miles.. Go 49 mpg 😀 (Much better than our old 4-door F-150 @ 13 mpg)
 
It's easy to get 32mpg or better, you need just leave 4 cylinders working. You can leave just two if you do not highway.

I thought studies had disproven that driving with your AC off doesn't save gas much at all due to the aerodynamics of vehicles these days.

An AC can reduce mileage significantly, especially on smaller 4 bangers.
