I never thought I'd say this, but what am I going to do without Geocities? :(

[Edit] Woah! This is the OP

I've had a Geocities account since 1998. I've used it to host pictures for Ebay auctions, to park home pages for access by cell phone/Blackberry, and to write easy-to-access, simple tutorials for family and friends.

I guess I've taken them for granted these past few years, but now with them about to disappear, what am I going to do?

cheap domain + cheap hosting = $18 / yr for a more flexible, dependable web host.

any blog website provides the same tools, often in an even easier setup. Blogger + Picassa is an awesome combination. Google is taking over the easy to use internet market, and I welcome them. 🙂

First warp - w00t! OP below.

Oh, I've made and owned multiple sites since I first started my geocities page. It was nice thinking I had a place to permanently park some stuff knowing that it would always be there.

You are going to have to find cheaper web hosting! I've got web hosting packages as low as 27.50$ if you are interested 🙂.

so, if you want to put up a simple web page concentrating on a single subject, without a lot of registration overhead - which is what Geocities was good for - what do you do ?

i think i might have heard someone mention Photobucket. i suppose they accept HTML files along with image files ?
