I never knew Yahoo had an auction site

They used to have free listings. When they charged everybody just went to ebay. Yahoo auctions japan is still popular though.

yahoo auctions was never that great to me. I do wish we had an alternative to ebay, even if it were just classifieds. Forums are great, but kind of disorganized and difficult to search for what you want.

That was a dumb move - half Yahoo's fault but half the user's fault.

If Yahoo intended to eventually charge, they should have either done so right away, or mentioned that they will after the 'beta' is over or something.

But since the users all went to eBay, now they are stuck w/ paying eBay's outrageous fees, while Yahoo would have undoubtedly undercut them fee wise, and would have been the better alternative in the long run.

Well I didn't sell much back then

If there was a real alternative all the junk peddlers from ebay couldn't complain all day about their 'big businesses' being ruined.

I don't agree with the recent feedback changes nor some of the pricing restructure, but if you are selling items that scale to ebay you can do well there still.

You can't except to compete with WalMart usually by selling a game they have for $15 everyday for $12 + $5 shipping buy it now which is what a lot try to do.
